The Latvia Residence-by-Investment Program was launched on 1 July 2010 in an effort to overcome the economic crisis of 2007– 2009.

Investment Options
Applicants can choose from the following investment options:
Investor Bond option:

  • 250,000 EUR to be held for 5 years.
  • 25,000 EUR donation to the state.

Investor Credit Institution option:

  • 280,000 EUR to be held for 5 years.
  • 25,000 EUR donation to the state.

Investor Real Estate option:

  • 250,000 EUR to be held for 5 years.
  • 5% of property value as donation to the state.

Other options:
Investor Share Capital option:
1. 50,000 EUR to be held for 5 years if investment is in a small company or 100,000 EUR to be held for 5 years if made in a medium or large company.
2. 10,000 EUR donation to the state.

Process
The process involves gathering a lot of documentation both in Grenada and your home country. You can do it on your own, but it would be easier and faster to use local professionals. The Latvia golden visa program requirements change according to the level of investment.
  • The processing of documents takes approximately 30–90 days. Applicants can choose from the fast processing options below:
    • 30 day processing time for 150 EUR
    • 10 day processing time for 300 EUR
    • 5 day processing time for 450 EUR.
  • Upon approval at the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, the investor has three months to collect their temporary residence permit in the form of an ID card.
  • The residence permit is valid for five years.
  • The ID card should be renewed every year.
  • There is no requirement of physical presence in order to renew the residence permit.
  • Five years after receiving the residence permit, the applicant may apply for a permanent residence permit.
However, as an investor, you are required to:
  • To qualify for a permanent residence permit, the candidate must have resided in the country for four years out of the five-year period.
  • The applicant is required to successfully pass the basic Latvian language test at Level A2.
  • The applicant must also have a proven knowledge of the general history of Latvia and the national anthem.
  • The applicant must renounce their former citizenship in order to be granted Latvian citizenship, although some exceptions may apply.
Timeline:

0-1 month: Gather the required documents and submit the Investor application and application fees to the authorities. The investor is required to commit to the investment
1-2 months: The application is approved; the applicant is required to travel to Latvia to give his biometrics and finalize his investment.
2 months: The applicant receives a resident permit valid for 5 years.
